Trading Session Hours

Postby Nikolay.Gekht » Sat Aug 28, 2010 10:00 pm

The indicator is the new version of the Trading Session Hours Highlight indicator.

The indicator highlights the trading sessions for the New York, London and Tokyo

Sidney Trading Session: 5:00 PM - 2:00 AM (EDT/EST)
Tokyo Trading Session: 7:00 PM - 4:00 AM (EDT/EST)
London Trading Session: 3:00 AM - 12:00 PM (EDT/EST)
New York Trading Session: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (EDT/EST)

See more about the trading session here: http://www.fxwords.com/f/fx-market-hours.html and here: http://www.forexmarkethours.com/

You can choose any combination of these three sessions to show. The session also highlights the highest and the lowest price during the session.

Because N-hours candles are always aligned against the FXCM's trading day (17:00EDT/EST), the indicator cannot highlight the trading sessions on the time frames higher than 1 hour.

The indicator shows open, close, high, low values of the session and the distance from open to high, low and close in pips. This information can be shown as on the chart as well as on the tooltip which appears when the mouse cursor is positioned over the session label. The user can choose as the data to show as well as the way how the data is shown.

The indicator can draw midline, open-to-close line and triangulation lines for the session. The user can turn any of these lines on or off and can choose the style for any of these lines.

Further plans:
1) Add quarter lines ((H + M) / 2, (L + M) / 2))
2) Add line extension for N sessions ahead.
3) Add extended sessions set:
enhanced session options(server times)
Sydney 17:00-19:00
Sydney-Tokyo cross 19:00 to 01:00
Tokyo 01:00 to 03:00
Tokyo-London cross 03:00 to 04:00
London 04:00 to 08:00
London-NY cross 08:00 to 12:00
NY 12:00 to 17:00
So, please, stay tuned for updates.

its ok but why dont you add an option of choosing the market hours by the user rather fixing them in it itself i.e london time(variable) like dat
that vl be more help ful , it can also make the hours that i trade get highlighted
thank you

Nikolay,
well done thus far. once you get to the rest of the upgrades, i think we ought to think about creating a separate version this indicator for the RSI candle indicator. or
http://fxcodebase.com/code/search.php?fid[]=17

if it is possible, then we can compare the polygons created for the rsi candle and the polygon created by the price candle on a session by session basis.

i appreciate your excellent work

Can the below be done with the session hours. To give it a signal to sell or buy at each session. Sample. When the Sydney session opens and it closes lower then the opening, a signal will be trigger to SELL currency at closing of that session. Next would be the Toyko session, if toyko opening is lower then the closing toyko session, a signal would be BUY at closing of toyko session....and etc

The Trading Session LUA adds the transparent color for the current session as the bars are drawn. In my opinion it would provide more insight if the transparent shading were to be drawn for the full session time period at the beginning of the session. In this way one could see at a glance how much time was remaining before the session was scheduled to close. Is it possible?

This indicator looks great and is very close to what I am looking for, which is an indicator that works exactly as this one does - but with adjustable, custom session times.

Is there any way to update this indicator to include this very useful feature? Thanks!

Hi

Great indicator !

Can it be modified so the last active rectangles (the current active sessions, that is) are extended in the future to the point where these active sessions will end ?

Best regards,
Mihai
