Indicator Using External Data ?

Postby novajim » Thu Oct 27, 2011 4:09 pm

Is it possible to build an indicator that utilizes an external data feed or links to say an excel spreadsheet where current data might be automatically updated? We are interested in looking at trends in commodities and futures prices to trigger and bound certain aspects of a FX strategy. Thanks!!!

Hi, I have already posted external data plotter for MT4 here and requested for a translation.
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7664
But looks like no one is making it at the moment.
Data format: yyyy.m.dd hh:mm, value
The problem in MT4 is that it can't plot future data, only data up to the present broker time is plotted.
If we want to plot data in the future, we have to shift it forward.

Thanks for the interest in getting something like this built in .lua. We don't know MT4 code or we'd take a swipe @ it ourselves in .lua.

Can anyone give us a hand here on either the conversion of the MT4 code provided or in finding some other means to bring in external (plot) data from a feed, .xls or .csv file ??

I think this would be a great add for the group! Thanks !!!
