Dollar cost average EA

Postby Daveatt » Sun Jul 28, 2019 5:56 am

Hi Fxcodebase team

I would be interested to see how you would develop a dollar cost average EA on MT4
I'm looking for something basic just to learn from it

I have a few ideas to make it great
- Direction : Buy or Sell
- Pips number input : choose when the cost averaging starts (i.e. every ten pips, every 20 pips, every 30 pips and so on)
- Max number of positions opened simultaneously
- Could be connected to many assets at the same time if possible ? then the max number of positions will be common for all the assets
- max Drawdown % for all assets - stop the EA when the drawdown is dropping below a % level.
- max Drawdown % for any asset - stop the asset but not the others if the drawdown for that is reaching the max

Not looking for something fancy. Trying to see how it looks and use that to enhance it on my end

Thanks for your help
Dave

I don't understand the entry logic. When EA should open positions?

Indeed I was not clear enough, sorry for that

Ok so let's assume the trend is given by a two Moving Average cross
Whenever we go against the trend, that's when I'd like to activate the dollar cost average methodology mentioned previously
So if the cross is bearish, it will dollar cost average (taking longs) on the way down
if the cross is bullish, it will dollar cost average (taking shorts) on the way up

Hope it clarifies and thanks so much for your help
I'll tip you because you guys helped me so much those past few years and I'm very grateful for everything I learned thanks to you
