ForexConnect redistribution?

Postby sgtega » Tue Nov 13, 2012 7:10 am

We're developing a FX-related commercial application and it uses ForexConnect to communicate with the FXCM server.

I'm wondering if we can distribute ForexConnect using the provided merge modules. It looks like the license text (included in the installation folder as doc/license.txt) prohibits the licensee from redistributing the licensor's program and data, as far as I understand.

Am I correct? (please correct me if I'm wrong)

If we need some additional license, who should we contact?

Hello!

The task you described is exactly what merge module is designed for.

The license applies to the whole ForexConnect API SDK, including samples, documentation and so on. Accepting the license means that you accept all risks and accept obligation to notify your users about the risks associated with the usage of the software.

I agree that wording of the license is confusing, I'll contact FXCM legal department about this issue. But, for sure, you can redistribute binaries as a part of your application using a merge module or, even, providing your own installation procedure if you wish.

Nikolay,

Thanks for clarification about the license.

Now we can comfortably embed the merge module(s) in our installer. :D
