simple API execution using a config file

Postby chimpy » Mon Jan 20, 2014 8:50 pm

If for example I want to use a trade alert function within a 3rd party program to execute a trade at FXCM, and the alert function has the ability to run any .exe or batch file, then can you please tell me what I need in terms of software or scripts I need to do that?

For example:

3rd party program says BUY, It then kicks off a batch file called BUY.cmd

Then what do I need to include in that Batch file to do the trade? an example configuration file would be useful. For now we can just assume a static lot size of 5 and say a 20 pip stoploss and a limit order of 50

I already have the forex api installed, do i need anything else installed

thanks, Chimpy

Hello chimpy,

You could write your own application using ForexConnect API with the ability to run third-party processes on various trade events.
Or you could write LUA strategy and use it with FXCM Trading Station. It allows you a lot.
Here you could find more information about strategies.
