How to use the reconnect function?

I tried connecting using the API and the StatusListener works fine and throws 'Connected', but when the internet slows down or losts, the StatusListener still throws the 'Connected' status. Is the reconnect function works with the current API build?

Could you please clarify how long did you wait before check the status?
Could you please wait two minutes after the losing of connection and then check the status?
